Theatre-at-Tusculum will present the award-winning and critically acclaimed musical revue “A… My Name is Alice” at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 19-20 and Feb. 26-27 and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 21 and 28. All performances will be in the David Behan Arena Theatre on the lower level (side entrance) of the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Building on campus.

Thomas J. Garland was named to the Tusculum College Board of Trustees on Friday, February 5. This will be a return for Garland, who previously served as a Trustee and former chairman of the Board.
Garland was born in Kingsport, was educated in the Kingsport and Oak Ridge school systems and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-56.
Dr. Greg Hawkins has been named assistant vice president for academic affairs at Tusculum College, officials announced today.
According to Dr. Kim Estep, provost and vice president of academics, in this position, Hawkins will coordinate strategic planning and assessment activities of the College, coordinate accreditation activities, manage institutional data reporting and analysis and gather data to support the development of new academic programs.
Performance artist Dr. Al Staggs will provide a unique view of various aspects of theology during the 2010 Theologian-in-Residence lecture series in February.
Tusculum College’s Thomas J. Garland Library staff recently announced that given the success of the November event, they would offer another children’s event, themed around Valentine’s Day.
“Big Hearts and Little Readers: Children’s Story Hour 2,” will take place on Thursday, February 11, at 6 p.m. in Room 206 of the Garland Library. The event is being coordinated by Kathy Hipps, information literacy librarian and assistant cataloger; Carolyn Parker, coordinator of library technical services, and Bonner Leader students Mara Rutherford and Scott Lucky.
“Wellness and Learning - Finding the Link in Southern Appalachia” is the topic of an expert panel discussion that will be sponsored by the Niswonger Foundation for the benefit of Tusculum College students, staff, faculty and anyone interested in participating.

Questions about God’s presence in a world of injustice and evil, God’s favored people and the responsibility of Christians to their fellow man were among the issues explored during the first session of the Theologian-in-Residence lecture series Tuesday at Tusculum College.
Suzanne Richey, director of college communications for Tusculum College, was recently notified that she was named the recipient of a New2CASE scholarship presented by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE.)
The New2CASE scholarship award includes a waiver of the registration fee for the CASE District III annual conference to be held in Tampa, Fla., February 20-24, as well as assistance with transportation costs.
The faculty and staff of the Knoxville Regional Center will be participating in a Relay For Life event in April. In order to raise dollars and awareness, the Tusculum College administration has given approval for the KRC Relay for Life team to host “Denim Fridays.” On the designated Fridays, Tusculum College personnel who make a $5 donation will earn the right to wear denim on a Friday.
The Pioneer Club Basketball Hospitality Event scheduled for Saturday, January 30, has been cancelled due to schedule changes relating to the expected winter storm this weekend. A decision has not yet been made regarding the actual games; however, due to the strong possibility of the games being postponed or moved due to weather concerns, the Pioneer Club event will not be held. They just don’t make them like that anymore. The “Fabulous Cars of the ’50s” was the topic of a lecture presentation held Tuesday, January 26, at the Thomas J. Garland Library on the Tusculum College campus.
More than 15 people braved the snowy weather and were treated to a lively presentation by Charles Tunstall, assistant professor of library science and reference and instructional services librarian. Tunstall, a self-proclaimed car enthusiast, presented a wide selection of cars through the decade along with information and trivia about their makers and in some cases those who owned them.
Central Ballet Theatre of Greeneville will present its newest ballet, “Exodus: The Story of Moses,” on Jan. 22– 24 in the Annie Hogan Byrd auditorium at Tusculum College.
Lynnsey Jett of Jefferson City has been honored as “Student of the Block” for Block 4 in recognition of her academic achievement and campus leadership. Faculty members and/or staff nominate students for the award.
A partnership between Tusculum College and Adult Basic Education was kicked-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, January 19, as representatives from both sides gathered to announce the opening of an official GED Testing Center, which will provide a much-needed service on a regular basis to Greene County and the surrounding communities.
The ribbon cutting for the new testing center was held on the main floor (first floor) of Virginia Hall on the Tusculum College campus. The first GED exam for the new site at the College was administered later that afternoon.
