President Dr. Nancy B. Moody and Susan D. Vance ‘91, interim vice president for Institutional Advancement, had the opportunity on a recent development trip to New Jersey to visit the Tusculum house at Princeton University, the original source of the College’s unique name
The house is located on Cherry Hill Road near the modern day Princeton campus. Dr. Moody and Vance had the opportunity to visit the site and take a few photographs on their trip. The house is no longer owned by Princeton University, but is a private residence.

Several officials from Tusculum College were among those who attended a community reception for Carlyle Walton. Walton, a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, has accepted a position as president and chief executive officer of Metroplex Health System in Texas.

Eight members of the Tusculum College faculty recently attended the Appalachian College Association’s Teaching and Learning Institute at Brevard College to focus on incorporating new teaching methods into the curriculum of a course at the College they currently teach.
The conference, which was held June 1-5, focused on active learning, significant learning and effective grading. The participants spent the week in class and then while at the conference began incorporating the new teaching and learning methods into the curriculum of their existing courses. Presentations of the new curriculum were shared at the end of the conference.

According to Jack Smith, director of the library and professor of library science and history, over the past seven years, the Thomas J. Two Distinguished Service Award recipients were honored on May 15 at Tusculum College’s annual President’s Dinner, held at Link Hills Country Club. Honored were Dr. Sam Miller and the late Dr. Don Henard. Henard’s award was presented to his wife, Jean Henard.
