Tusculum College Morristown site now has full-time advising onsite

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Tusculum College has announced that the Graduate and Professional Studies program at the Morristown site now has a full-time advisor on staff.

Kathy Joy, academic advisor for Northeast Tennessee, has been relocated from the Greeneville campus to the Morristown site, where she will serve as a full-time GPS student advisor.kathyjoyweb

Academic advising is available to all Graduate and Professional Studies students.

Joy’s services are available to all undergraduate students needing advising; however, she will keep her permanent office in Morristown, ensuring that students attending classes in Morristown no longer need to drive to the Greeneville campus for advising services.

Joy is an experienced advisor who has served in the role since 2003 and has been part of the College staff since 1997.

“Our enrollment at the Morristown site continues to grow, and with that we are doing everything we can to meet the needs of our students,” said Karen Sartain, executive director of enrollment management. “By adding a fulltime advisor, we are able to make an existing service more convenient for our students.”

There are currently more than 200 students attending classes at the Tusculum College Morristown site.

Academic advising in Graduate and Professional Studies considers the uniqueness of our student population and adheres to the recommendations of the National Academic Advising Association. The professional academic advisor provides each undergraduate student with guidance for developing an educational plan, selecting courses and making referrals for assistance from other campus resources.

Sartain added that the college offers a full slate of degree programs at the Morristown site, including bachelor degrees in business administration, organizational management, and education; as well as master’s degree programs in organizational management, teaching and education. Many of the degree programs have the option of specialized concentrations to provide students with a personalized coursework for their future career.

Several classes are forming now and registration is underway. For more information on Tusculum College of the Graduate and Professional Studies advising services, please contact the Office of Enrollment at 888-488-7285.
