Pioneer Green Team hosts Earth Day Extravaganza on Tusculum College campus
Earth Day 2010 was commemorated on the Tusculum College campus with the “Earth Day Extravaganza,” hosted by the Pioneer Greene Team. Activities took place from late morning through the afternoon on the lawn in front of McCormick Hall on campus. The event featured displays sharing information on a variety of issues ranging from recycling to sustainable tourism. The displays included information from Keep Greene Beautiful and the Middle Nolichucky Watershed Alliance. Activities such as making homemade birdfeeders from pine combs and painting “ladybug” rocks proved to be popular with the students, at left. The day’s activities also included expanding the college’s community garden with the planting of new trees, shrubs and flowers and the addition of decorative benches, at right.
